Price Change By Percent

From the DockMaster menu, select Inventory Management > Pricing Menu > Price Change By Percent

This routine allows you to increase or decrease the 5 selling price(s) for Parts by a given percentage, or allows you to set selling prices to a specific decimal ending (.99).

Note: This routine only calculates the new price changes; the Update Inventory Price/Cost program will update the Inventory File.

Note: Premise customers are recommended to run a valid backup prior to running this process.

Upon selecting this routine, the message "This routine only calculates a price change for the parts selected. The Update Inventory Price/Cost program must be run to update the Inventory File. Press OK to continue." in a pop-up window as a reminder. Click OK to continue.

  • Vendors - Enter a Vendor Number in the grid or leave blank to select ALL. F6 to select from a list, or enter a keyword preceded by a backslash "\" to access a cross-reference list.
  • Vendor List - Enter a pre-defined Vendor List name or bypass this prompt. Lists can be created with the Report Generator.
  • Part List - Enter a pre-defined Part List Name or bypass this prompt.
  • Parts - Enter a Part Number in the grid or leave blank to select ALL. F6 to select from a list, or enter a part number or keyword preceded by a backslash "\" to access a cross-reference list.
  • Departments - Enter a Department in the grid or leave blank to select ALL. F6 to select from a list.
  • Department List - Enter a pre-defined Department List Name or bypass this prompt.
  • Select Parts by Price Range - Select this option to enable selecting prices within a range. The 'Price Line to Select Parts', 'Lowest Price to Select' and 'Highest Range to Select' fields will be enabled. Note: The program will still use the Parts selected using the options above; the Price Range selection will be done in addition to this Parts, Vendors, or Departments selected.
    • Price Line to Select Parts - Click the down arrow to select the Price Line to use when selecting parts by Price Range; the options are 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. Note: When selecting Parts by Price Range, you can only use ONE Price column to do the selection; if you need to select Price Ranges using multiple Price columns, you should run this process multiple times.
    • Lowest Price to Select - Enter the Lowest Price to Select for the Price Line entered. Enter a zero if there is no low price range.
    • Highest Price to Select - Enter the Highest Price to Select for the Price Line entered.
  • Price Line to Update - Click the down arrow to select the Price Line to update with the Price Change; the options are ALL, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. The default option is to update ALL Prices.
  • Price Line as Base - Click the down arrow to select the Price Line to use as the basis for the calculation; the options are SELF, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. The default SELF option calculates price changes based on each Price Line. Selecting a Base Price Line calculates the price change and applies it to all other Price Lines.
  • Increase/Decrease Percent - Enter the Increase or Decrease Percentage for your price change. Enter the number without the percent sign (%) (i.e. 2, 2.5, etc.).
  • Minimum Price - Enter a Minimum Price if you want all parts selected to maintain a minimum price. For example, if you want all parts in your selection to have a minimum price of .99 cents regardless of if the price calculates to less than .99 cents, enter .99 at this prompt.
  • Ending Decimal (0-99 or X9) - Enter an Ending Decimal if you want all Price Changes to have a specific decimal ending. Note: If you want the last digit to be static, for example the number 9, enter X9. The resulting decimal would be ".09" ".19" ".29" etc. Entering just a single digit of "9" defaults a "0" before the 9 resulting in the ending decimal of ".09".
  • Break Point - This prompt is only applicable when an Ending Decimal is also entered. Enter a Break Point to determine the rounding point for price calculations that use the Ending Decimal function. The Break Point determines when to increase or decrease the whole dollar portion of the price; leave the prompt BLANK to always round UP.
  • Effective Date - Enter an Effective Date for this price change; the default is the current system date. 
  • Click the Calculate button to calculate Prices/Cost using the criteria entered.

 

Completing the Price Factor Process

The following steps should be performed to calculate price changes using a percentage increase or decrease.

  • Run the program Price/Cost Change Using Factor to calculate the price and cost changes. Note: This process only calculates the new price or cost changes, no update to the Inventory File is performed.
  • If desired, you can run a sample report using the Report Generator to view the calculated price/cost changes that will occur. Use the attributes called New Price 1, New Price 2, New Price 3, New Price 4, New Price 5, Cost Change, Effective Price (effective price date), Effective Cost (effective cost date).
  • Run the program Update Inventory Price/Cost to update the Inventory File with the calculated changes.
